Energia Communications provides Internet and communication services to individual users and corporate customers throughout Hiroshima and the surrounding Chugoku region of Japan. The company recently expanded its services with the EneWings Cloud service, an IaaS service built to meet clients’ needs. Energia Communications built EneWings Cloud on FlexPod with Cisco UCS blade servers, Cisco Nexus switches, and NetApp storage virtualized with VMware. For Energia Communications, the integration between Cisco servers and networks was particularly important for the cloud environment and it became a major deciding factor when choosing Cisco. Cisco ASR 9006 Routers deliver excellent network traffic, while Cisco ASA 5505 and 5585 appliances provide secure firewalls. Energia Communications worked with Cisco Services to identify ways to achieve more efficient operations and provide customers with faster service. Based on the Cisco Domain Ten framework, Cisco Services analyzed the existing cloud workflow and identified areas for improvement, such as increasing automation and adjusting the Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) configurations on the ASR routers to customize the client experience. Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud brings significant improvements to the cloud workflow. The self‐service portal is easy for customers to use and enables Energia Communications to offer more self‐servicing in the future. Automated provisioning has reduced the provisioning time from 90 minutes to only 20 minutes. This enables IT staff to spend less time on its new cloud business and more time on its primary Internet business. 1
