SCOTTSDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION IN MANAGEMENT
Why Management?
Managers with strong leadership skills are constantly
in demand in all industries. Whether you manage a
small office, a large department, or even run your
own business, you will command a much larger
salary than the subordinates that you lead. If you
have strong interpersonal, communication, and
leadership skills, you have the potential of being a
successful manager.
What Does a Manager Do?
Simply put, managers plan, organize, lead, and control:
 Plan: Define goals, establish strategy, and coordinate activities among others.
 Organize: Determine what needs to be done, how it will be done, and who will do it.
 Lead: Direct and motivate all involved parties and resolve conflicts.
 Control: Monitor activities to ensure they’re being accomplished as planned.
Certificate in Completion in Management at Scottsdale Community College
Scottsdale Community College (SCC), accredited by the North Central Association, offers the
Certificate in Management for students who wish to pursue an entry-level management
position in a small, medium, or even large company. The Management certificate will teach
you how to manage a diverse workforce, develop professional skills, and direct a department
or even an entire company in a competitive world.
The certificate is designed for students who either have a college degree or want to “recareer” or who don’t have a degree but want to get a management position as soon as
possible. You can get your certificate after two semesters.
The following pages discuss program requirements and provide a recommended academic
