End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco Content
Delivery Applications for TV Streaming: Releases 1.4.x, 1.5.1.x,
1.5.3.x, and 1.6.x

Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco Content Delivery Applications for TV
Streaming Releases 1.4.x, 1.5.1.x, 1.5.3.x, and 1.6.x. The last day to order the affected product(s) is
October 16, 2009. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco
Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-oflife milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers
affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support
will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of
Support shown in Table 1.

Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software in these
releases.

Product Migration Options
Release 2.0 of Cisco Content Delivery System TV Application software introduces several new features and
enhancements. Release 2.0 adds support for next-generation Content Delivery Engines CDE110, CDE220 and
CDE420. In addition, Release 2.0 introduces several software enhancements in the areas of resiliency,
supportability, management and support for new VOD ecosystems. Please refer to the Release 2.0 notes available
on Cisco.com for additional information. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Release 2.0 software version
of Content Delivery Applications for TV Streaming. Information about this product can be found at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7127/index.html.
Release 2.0 is supported on Generation 1 Content Delivery Engines, CDE100, CDE200, CDE300, and CDE400.
However, to fully benefit from the new features and enhancements in Release 2.0, customers are encouraged to
migrate to the next-generation Content Delivery Engines CDE110, CDE220, and CDE420.
Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the
purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information about Cisco TMP, go to: http://www.cisco.com/go/tradein/.
The Cisco TMP application requires all users to have a Cisco.com user ID.
Service prices for Cisco products are subject to change after the product End of Sale date.
License Transferability Policy for Cisco Content Delivery Applications for TV Streaming
Optional software feature and capacity licenses purchased for use with CDS-TV Releases 1.4.x, 1.5.x or 1.6.x on
Generation-1 Content Delivery Engines (CDE100, CDE200, CDE30x and CDE400) will transfer over to CDS-TV
Release 2.0 (or later) running on Generation-2 Content Delivery Engines (CDE110, CDE220 and CDE420). These
licenses, shown in the table below, are hardware independent and the right-to-use associated with these licenses is
carried over to the Generation-2 Content Delivery System products.
