Move it Monday -Monday Mile In 2003, Sid Lerner’s interest in public health led to create the Meatless Monday initiative with our Center for a Livable Future. -“One day a week, cut out meat for your health and the health of the planet.” “Move It Monday” and the “Monday Mile” encourages individuals and communities to use Monday to recommit to their physical activity goals, setting a pattern of healthy behavior for the rest of the week. Sid Lerner, Chairman and Founder of Monday Campaigns CDC recommends adults get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week. -That breaks down to 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. By doing the Monday Mile, you’re taking the first steps toward meeting your recommended weekly exercise goal! Previous Activities: Amy Wesolowski, Carnegie Mellon University Quantifying the impact of human mobility on malaria December 3rd, 2012 Abstract: Human movements contribute to the transmission of malaria on spatial scales that exceed the limits of mosquito dispersal. Identifying the sources and sinks of imported infections due to human travel and locating high-risk sites of parasite importation could greatly improve malaria control programs. Here we use spatially explicit mobile phone data and malaria prevalence information from Kenya to identify the dynamics of human carriers that drive parasite importation between regions. Our analysis identifies importation routes that contribute to malaria epidemiology on regional spatial scales. STUDENT ASSEMBLY Upcoming Events Save the Dates!
