Car Seat Check List
• Buy and install a federally approved
rear-facing car seat at least
three weeks before your baby’s
due date. Make sure the car seat is
properly installed in the back seat
of the car by following the car seat
manufacturer’s instructions and
the vehicle owner’s manual.
• Meet with a certified Child
Passenger Safety Technician at
least three weeks before your
baby’s due date if you need
help installing your car seat.
Go to safeny.ny.gov
for a list of car seat fitting stations
and check-up events in your area.
• Bring your newborn baby safely home.
