NICHD Population Centers
 The Population Dynamics Branch of NICHD has funded a
highly regarded Population Research Infrastructure
program since 1971.
 Currently 23 NICHD Population Centers, of which the HPC
is one of the oldest and most established.
 This program provides a critical core of professionals to
address emerging questions in NICHD priority areas:
 Marriage and family change  Mortality
 Fertility and family planning  HIV risk and prevention
 Children and child health.

Restricted Data Services
(Associates Only)
 Jennifer Darragh assists in acquisition & maintenance of restricted-use
data. This service includes
 preparing and submitting applications for use of the data
 management of contract/license file (including amendments, renewals & audits)
 secure storage of original restricted data media (CDs/DVDs)
 HPC Associates have two options for storing restricted-use data depending
upon security requirements.
 HPC restricted-data server. For data permitted to be accessed via a secure
connection to a server. To access the restricted data server, there is an Internetbased Cold Room in the BSPH.
 HPC Cold Room. A secure environment for restricted data analysis on standalone computers.
 Both rooms are on the 4th floor of BSPH and protected by card reader
access.
