Regulations for Inter-Division Course Registration between Daytime
Undergraduate Programs and Division of Continuing Education

I.
The Regulations for Inter-Division Course Registration between Daytime Undergraduate
Programs and Division of Continuing Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”)
are prescribed in accordance with Paragraph 7 of Article 4 and Article 6 of the Notice to
Evening Division Transformation to satisfy the needs of inter-division course selection for
students of both daytime undergraduate programs and the Division of Continuing Education.
II. Daytime undergraduate students, evening undergraduate students and students enrolled in
two-year in-service programs are not permitted to take courses offered by these divisions or by
any other departments as per the Regulations unless prior approval is obtained from the Chair
of the department of their major.
III. Daytime undergraduate students who take courses offered by the Division of Continuing
Education are permitted to take a maximum of six credits per semester and subject to the
restriction on the maximum total credits for every semester. Students who satisfy one of the
following requirements are allowed to take courses offered by the Division of Continuing
Education:
1. Time conflict between courses offered by the department of their major and the
department of their minor/second major.
2. Time conflict on courses taken by graduating students, which may affect their
qualifications for graduation.
3. Graduating students need to take a professional skill elective which is not available at
daytime undergraduate programs
4. Retaking or making up a basic course.
5. Taking courses offered by the Division of Continuing Education under the approval of
department chairs/directors of institutes due to special circumstances.
IV. For evening undergraduate students, students in two-year in-service technical programs and
students in two-year in-service programs, the number of credits earned from daytime

undergraduate programs shall be no more than one-third of the total credits at each semester.
They are also subject to the restriction on the maximum credits per semester as daytime
undergraduate students.
V. Except the last semester, evening undergraduate students, students of two-year in-service
technical programs and students in two-year in-service programs shall not take less than nine
credits at the Division of the Continuing Education per semester.
VI. Departments and institutes may set up the maximum student enrollment and take into
consideration the teaching capacity to decide whether to approve applications for inter-division
course registration.
VII. Students originally enrolled in the evening division shall take daytime undergraduate courses as
per rules related to students of the Division of Continuing Education in the Regulations.
VIII. The regulations for inter-division course registration between daytime master’s programs and
in-service master’s programs shall be prescribed by respective departments (institutes) and
reported to the College and the Office of Academic Affairs for future reference.
IX. Issues not mentioned herein shall be governed by relevant laws and regulations.
X. The Regulations become effective after adopted by the University Academic Council and
ratified by the President. The same procedures shall apply to any amendment to the
Regulations.
Note: In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as to the interpretation of the language or
terms of these Regulations, the Chinese language version shall prevail.
