Regulations for Inter-University Course Registration at I-Shou University Adopted on May 29, 2002 at the second meeting of University Academic Council at the second semester of the academic year 2001 Adopted on March 5, 2003 at the first meeting of University Academic Council at the second semester of the academic year 2002 Approved and filed for reference on June 10, 2003 under the Ministry of Education’s Letter No. Tai-Kao-2-Tzu 0920080637 Adopted on October 8, 2003 at the first meeting of University Academic Council at the first semester of the academic year 2003 Approved and filed for reference on March 31, 2006 under the Ministry of Education’s Letter No. Tai-Kao-2-Tzu 0950036266 Article 1 The Regulations for Inter-University Course Registration at I-Shou University (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”) are prescribed in accordance with Article 28 of the University Act, Article 26 of the Enforcement Rules of University Act and Article 10 of the Academic Rules of I-Shou University. Article 2 The inter-university course registration shall be applicable only to courses offered by universities and colleges (excluding those with purposes of extension education). Article 3 Students are permitted to take courses not offered by the University at certain semester. Repeaters shall obtain the permission from the Chair of the department and the Office of Academic Affairs prior to the registration. Article 4 The maximum credits which students take from inter-university courses shall not exceed one-third of the total credits for a semester (the rule does not apply to repeaters who obtain the permission from the Chair of the department and the Office of Academic Affairs), and such students are subject to the restriction to the maximum credits per semester. Article 5 Students who wish to take inter-university courses shall fill out and submit an application form to the university/college offering courses one week before the course add/drop period specified by such a university/college. After approved by the 1 Chair of the department (Director of the institute), the application form shall be submitted to the Curriculum Section and Registration Section for deliberation, and then transferred to the Dean of Academic Affairs for approval. Finally, students are able to apply for inter-university courses to other universities/colleges after all the aforementioned procedures have completed. Article 6 Applicants who are permitted to take inter-university courses are deemed taking courses at the University. In case of failure to complete the registration procedure of inter-university courses, such students shall apply for withdrawal from the course to the Curriculum Section of the University within two weeks after the course add/drop period of other universities/colleges ends. Article 7 Students taking inter-university courses shall pay in accordance with the regulations of other universities/colleges offering inter-university courses. The meeting time of inter-university courses (including the time required for travelling back and forth) shall not overlap with the courses taken at the University. If the aforementioned circumstance is found, the overlapping courses shall not be recognized. Article 8 Non-ISU students who apply for inter-university courses to the University shall seek permission from the universities/colleges in which they are currently enrolled in and fill out an application form in accordance with the regulations of the University. The student enrollment for inter-university courses shall be included in the maximum student enrollment set forth by respective departments. All the procedures shall be completed by the end of course add/drop period. Late applications will not be considered. Students shall also pay credit fees in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education. Students who take computer or language courses shall pay additional fees. Article 9 Once students of other universities/colleges have completed the procedures of inter-university course registration, no course withdrawal or fee refund is allowed, except that the course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. After instructors have submitted the scores to the Office of Academic Affairs, the score shall be forwarded to the universities/colleges which students are enrolled in. The academic performance assessment shall subject to the timetable of the University. Students of other universities/colleges taking inter-university courses at the University shall not request the University to transfer the course results earlier than scheduled. Article 10 Issues not mentioned herein shall be governed by relevant regulations and the Academic Rules of I-Shou University. Article 11 The Regulations become effective after adopted by the University Academic Council and ratified by the President. The Regulations shall also be reported to the Ministry 2 of Education for future references. The same procedures apply to any amendment to the Regulations. Note: In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as the interpretation of the language or terms of these Regulations, the Chinese language version shall prevail. 3
