Article 1
These guidelines are enacted in accordance with the Academic Rules of I-Shou
University and the University Act.
Article 2
Departments shall accept the students who apply for minor course from other
departments. Students shall complete a minimum of 20 credits of professional course
required by minor course. The credit number of the classes shall be enacted by
departments and implemented after adopted by University Academic Council. Credit
hours of the minor degree of study shall be completed in addition to the minimum
credit hours required for graduation by the original department.
Article 3
Undergraduate students may apply for a minor degree of study starting on the 2nd
year until the 1st semester of their last year of study. (Extended term of study not
included)
Article 4
Students may apply for minor course from the original department while registering
in every semester. With the consent of Chairs of original department and newly
applied department, the students might report to the Office of Academic Affairs for
future reference.
Article 5
The grades which students earned from minor course shall be computed in
conjunction with the grades from original department. The computation of grades
must be carried out in accordance with pertinent regulations of Academic Rules of
I-Shou University.
Article 6
Students with minors who have completed the required courses and credits with
satisfactory grades shall receive diploma and transcript records, graduate roster and
degree certificate stating the title of the minor degree in both English and Chinese.
Article 7
Those who fail to complete the required courses or credits of the minor courses may
apply to extend the year of study for maximum 2 years. After extending the year of
study, students with minors who have not completed the required courses shall not
apply any certificates referring to minor courses.
Article 8
Students with minors who have completed requirements for graduation in the
original department of time, but have not completed required courses and credits in
the minor study within the stipulated period, may relinquish their minor degree status.
However, the graduation diploma shall not receive transcripts or related certification
documents stating the title of the minor degree. After graduation, students shall not
require making up the insufficient credit number or any certificates related to minor
course.
Article 9
Graduating students with minor courses who have not completed the required credit
of minor course shall apply revocation at the end of the August. Students study in
minor course which related with the major course, with the consent of the Chair of
the original department, the credits shall be exempted the basic required credits in
original department.
Article 10
Student with minors shall pay credit fee if extra classes is needed within the
stipulated year of study. Undergraduate students, who extend the year of study due to
the minor course, shall pay credit fee if he/she takes less than (includes) 9 credits or
pay full tuition if he/she takes more than (includes) 10 credits. Students in Division
of Continuing Education shall pay for partial tuition.
Article 11
Any issue not mentioned herein shall be subject to the relevant laws and regulations
of the Academic Rules of I-Shou University.
Article 12
The regulations become effective upon the adoption by the University Academic
Council, and submit to the Ministry of Education for future reference. Any
amendment to the Academic Rules shall follow the same administrative procedure.
Note: In the event of any disputes or misunderstanding as the interpretation of the language or
terms of these regulations, the Chinese language version shall prevail.
