It includes all the defects and caveats that were identified as part of internal testing. It assumes that the reader has a good working knowledge of the Cisco Insight Reporter software. This document covers the following: Target Operating Environment Compatibility with Cisco DPI Devices New Features and Enhancements Closed Caveats Open Caveats Related Documents Obtaining Documentation and Submitting a Service Request __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 2 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ Target Operating Environment The Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 is the web reporting application to monitor traffic analyzed by the DPI capabilities of Cisco Service Control Engines (Cisco SCE). Note Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 supports Cisco SCE deployments running Cisco SCOS Release 4.0.0 and earlier, and is backward compatible with earlier releases. Starting from Release 4.0.0, the application supports only Cisco SCE devices and does not support Cisco ASR1000 series routers running Application Visibility and Control (AVC) feature. Cisco ASR1000 customers can check on cisco.com for the availability of other reporting solution for AVC. Note Customers running Cisco Insight Reporter releases earlier than v4.0.0 for deployments based on Cisco ASR1000 routers will need to remove the related network configuration(s) before upgrading to Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0. The upgrade procedure does not support the migration of Networks created for Cisco ASR1000 devices under the Network Wizard. Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 software is primarily designed to be installed as an independent component on a dedicated hardware, this scenario is the most suitable for medium/large SCE deployments for which it is advisable to keep the data collection and storage layers on separate hardware and dedicate all the server resources to the Cisco Insight Reporter application. For demo purpose or small Cisco SCE deployments, the application can be installed on the same host as the Cisco Service Control Collection Manager (CM). In this scenario, the embedded MySQL 5.1 database engine, provided with the application, needs to be used to store traffic data and the CM must be configured to populate it. The application can also be installed on a deployed server with the CM software and its traffic database but, in this case, the database engine needs to be MySQL 5.1. The software can be deployed also on virtualized systems provided that the hosted operating system is compliant and that all the requirements on prerequisites are met. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 3 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ Hardware Requirements The Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 can be installed on any physical or virtual host with the following minimal specifications: Table 1. Hardware Specifications Components Specifications CPU Single or dual-core 2.0 GHz or greater Intel x86/64 processor OR 32/64 bit single or dual-core 2.0 GHz or greater SPARC processor RAM 4 GB or greater Free Disk Space 10 GB for the OS + additional disk space in case of traffic data storage. Recommended size: > 100 GB Network interface Single 100BASE-T Ethernet or greater In case of doubt, you can contact Cisco Support to get an estimation of the required CPU power, RAM capacity, and disk storage. Note The performance of the Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 depends on the size of the SCE deployment and the number of users simultaneously running the reports. To get an optimal performance, the hardware may have to be scaled accordingly. The above recommendation is for a good response time when running ONLY the Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 application. In case the same server is used to co-host other applications, the hardware has to be upgraded with more RAM, CPU power and storage capacity. Software Requirements You can install Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 on any server running the following operating systems: Table 2. Note Supported Operating Systems OS and architecture Version Architecture Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS 5.x Intel 32/64 bit Solaris 9 or 10 Intel 32/64 bit SPARC 32/64 bit The recommended operating system for best performance is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 64-bit. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 4 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 requires JRE6. If the installer does not find JRE6 on the system, it will automatically install it. Supported Browsers The Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 is compliant with the following browsers: Firefox v3.0 and later IE v6.0 and later Google Chrome v5.0 and later Notes As a prerequisite, the Flash Player 10.x browser plug-in should be installed on all client PCs that will be used to display reports Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 supports both HTTP and HTTPS Screen Resolution The application GUI supports a variety of screen resolution modes including 1280x1024, 1024x768, and 1680x1050 with consistent support of 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios (wide screen). For a better user experience it is recommended to use a minimum vertical resolution of 1024 pixels. Note A minimal screen resolution of 1024x768 is supported with vertical and horizontal scroll bars. For other resolutions, scrollbars may appear if the screen resolution is lower than the application workspace or if there are too many toolbars configured on the browser. To maximize the user experience, it is suggested to set the browser to full-screen mode (that can be set usually by pressing the F11 function key). Supported Databases The Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 is delivered with a bundled MySQL 5.1 database that is used for internal operations, but can also be used to store traffic data populated by the Cisco Collection Manager software. The application is distributed with an embedded MySQL 5.1 server (required for its internal operations) but can also integrate an existing MySQL 5.1 instance, when installed on a preconfigured environment running Cisco Service Control Collection Manager Software. In that case, the database engine must be MySQL 5.1 and it will host both the Insight Reporter’s proprietary schemas and the Cisco Service Control Collection Manager schema containing traffic data. Cisco Insight Reporter can also be configured to work with external traffic databases populated by Cisco Service Control Collection Manager(s). __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 5 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ The supported vendors and versions for external traffic databases are: Note Oracle 9.x or later Sybase ASE 12.x or later MySQL 5.x or later For licensing issues, when working with Oracle and Sybase databases, customers are required to provide the software JDBC connectors and copy them on a specific path of the application, as described in the Installation Guide. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 6 Compatibility with Cisco DPI Devices __________________________________________________ Compatibility with Cisco DPI Devices Cisco Insight Reporter is the reporting platform for both Cisco Service Control Application solutions. This release 4.0.0 supports the following devices and configurations: Table 3. Supported devices and releases DPI device SW release CM schema version Cisco SCOS 3.5.0 to 4.0.0 Same as Cisco SCOS release Cisco SCE all models, but only SCE8000 supported for IPv6 traffic __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v3.4.0 Page 7 Compatibility with Cisco DPI Devices __________________________________________________ Differences with Previous Release The Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 provides all the functional features of previous releases as it is an incremental version. The current release fully supports the feature set provided by Cisco SCOS Release 4.0.0 and introduces new reports, as well as enhancements to existing reports, to leverage the new capabilities implemented on SCE devices. In particular, this release completes the full support for IPv6 for all traffic tables used to generate reports. The release is 100% compatible with existing Insight v3.x deployments and supports software upgrade to allow customers to perform a seamless installation of the application without the need to reconfigure all settings and existing report customizations (SCE networks, saved/scheduled reports, dashboard, color settings, etc.). Note Starting from this release 4.0.0, the application only supports Cisco SCE devices and does no longer support Cisco ASR1000 series routers running Application Visibility and Control (AVC) feature. Customers running Cisco Insight Reporter releases earlier than v4.0.0 for deployments based on Cisco ASR1000 routers will need to remove the related network configuration(s) before upgrading to Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0. The upgrade procedure does not support the migration of Networks created for Cisco ASR1000 devices under the Network Wizard. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v3.4.0 Page 8 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ The following matrix describes the main differences between the two versions: Table 4. However, the application still tries to use the old connection pool even if it is no longer available. Conditions: Restart the local MySQL server and try to use the application. Workaround: Open an SSH connection on the Cisco Insight Reporter server and manually restart the Tomcat service (or reboot the server). CSCuh57908 — Non-supported IP type filter for Malicious traffic reports Symptom: Malicious traffic analysis reports currently expose a filter for IP type (to select IPv4, IPv6, or DS-Lite traffic). That filter is actually not applicable to those reports. Conditions: Open a Report Wizard window and select the topic corresponding to Malicious traffic analysis. Workaround: Do not use the IP type filter for these reports. CSCuh35588 —Top Subscribers report not generated when Pkg aggregation disabled in CM Symptom: When generating the Top Subscribers report, Cisco Insight Report displays the "No Data Found for selected range" message. Conditions: Package aggregation is disabled for NUR RDRs on Cisco Service Control Collection Manager. Generate the Top Subscribers report on Cisco Insight Reporter. Workaround: Do not disable the Package aggregation on the Cisco Service Control Collection Manager. If the Package aggregation is disabled, unselect the All Packages option on the Insight Reporter's filter when generating the Top Subscriber reports. CSCuh37580 — Top FTP Servers report: volume values reported as IPv4 addresses Symptom: The Top FTP Servers report displays volumes using the quad-dotted notation reserved to IPv4 addresses instead of decimal format. Conditions: Open a Report Wizard window and select the topic corresponding to the Top FTP Servers report. Workaround: No workaround available for the interactive report. Export the report in CSV format or use the chart tooltip to check the volume consumption of each reported FTP server. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v3.4.0 Page 12 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ CSCue84277—Missing parameters in Link Aggregated Usage Volume per Service report Symptom: The Link Aggregated Usage Volume per Service report is missing the filters for topology and services. So it is not possible to run the report for a specific subset of Cisco SCEs or for a specific group of services. Conditions: Open the Report Wizard and select the Topic to generate the Link Aggregated Usage Volume per Service report. Workaround: None CSCuh27521—Some fields are missing in Subscriber Flows Details report Symptom: Some fields are missing in Subscriber Flow Details report. Protocol IDs are displayed instead of protocol names. Also the time boundary is missing; hence it is not possible to generate the report for a specific time boundary. Conditions: Open a Report Wizard window and select the topic corresponding to the Subscriber Flows Details report. Then execute the report. Workaround: None CSCuh43799 —Top Service Servers report show service series as IPv4 addresses Symptom: The Top Service Servers report plots service series whose labels are reported as IPv4 addresses. Conditions: Open a Report Wizard and select the Traffic Discovery topic, then generate the Top Service Servers report. Workaround: Export results in CSV format. CSCuh48483 - Subscriber Flows Details report does not refresh properly Symptom: The Subscriber Flows Details report is generated correctly the first time it is executed, but then shows an empty page if the operator tries to refresh it or to run it to monitor a different subscriber. Conditions: Open the Report Wizard and select the Subscriber Flows Details report, then try to reuse the same instance to refresh results or to switch to a different subscriber. Workaround: Close the previously generated report before attempting to execute another instance. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 13 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ CSCuh51278—Top SIP Domains/User Agents reports do not support time aggregations Symptom: Top SIP Domains and Top SIP User Agents reports are not generated when the time aggregation parameter is different than NONE. Conditions: Open the Report Wizard and select the Top SIP Domains or Top SIP User Agents reports, then try to change the aggregation interval under the Date and Time tab. Workaround: None. __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 14 Target Operating Environment __________________________________________________ Related Documents This document is to be used in conjunction with the documents listed below: Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Installation Guide Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 User Guide __________________________________________________ Release Notes for Cisco Insight Reporter v4.0.0 Page 15 Closed Caveats __________________________________________________ Obtaining Documentation and Submitting a Service Request For information on obtaining documentation, submitting a service request, and gathering additional information, see What’s New in Cisco Product Documentation at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/general/whatsnew/whatsnew.html.
