BACKGROUND:
San Joaquin County boasts seven cities (approximately 921,600 total acres) and some of the finest opportunities in the state for boating, fishing, camping, history‐gathering, or just plain fun in the sun
CHALLENGE:
San Joaquin County works hard to provide its 700,000 residents with the best possible services at minimal costs to taxpayers. Rather than continuing to build out to meet the county’s increasing technology needs they decided to invest in IT infrastructure with a completely virtualized data center and private cloud services
SOLUTION:
• Cisco Unified Data Center solutions along with EMC storage create an integrated environment and high‐performance cloud and provide San Joaquin County more than enough performance capacity to fully virtualize its applications
• Cisco UCS Director provides cost effective staff with the ability to manage all resources and automate task in the data center
RESULTS:
• San Joaquin County created a cloud‐based service that lets users provision their own virtual servers, making provisioning new servers easier and reducing provisioning time
• A single management interface reduces time operational costs, providing the IT team the opportunity expand user services without reducing quality or increasing headcount
