Course Objective:
Students will learn the importance of money and interest, negotiable instruments,
mortgages, commercial lending, and the role of banking in today’s economy. This
course combines hands-on activities, examples from news-making companies, and
creative special features to bring the content to life and help students bridge the gap
between classroom and real world applications.

Required Materials:
 Pen (no red)
 Pencil with eraser
 Pocket Folder with brads (any color)
 Package of Loose Leaf Notebook Paper
 Calculator – Basic function (cell phones are not allowed)
Evaluation:
Students are responsible for earning their own grades. Students will have every
opportunity to earn an “A”, but it depends entirely on the student’s effort. Late work
without prior permission will not be accepted.

*Participation includes group work, notebook/journal checks, class participation,
assessment analysis, and internet assignments.
Exams are open notes (not open book). It is extremely important to take good notes.
All assignments, handouts and notes are to be kept in a pocket folder. Retakes are
limited to major assignments.
