the postcard for the Bus Expo. She usually
charges $60 to businesses and $40 to nonprofits for set up. Discussion was held about
giving her ½ table at expo and her co name
on the bags in exchange for her fee. Darian
will also have her BNI member, Todd
Chandler give a quote on this as well. Micki
asked if any more board members were
wanting tables as they were going to be
opened up to members. A few more board
members signed up.
Finance - Shirley passed out last year’s
budget, cash flow stmt for May and budget
for 2013-14.
She explained everything line by line which
was very helpful to board. Alison asked about
the budget for Spirit of Networking and
Shirley told her it was part of the special
events line item. There was a question about
who is contacting the renewing members and
Shirley said she is doing them. A discussion
was held about removing non-members from
the website. After much discussion on this,
Sheila & Shirley decided they would work
together on this. A budget for centerpieces
was discussed. Many of the items are donated
and/or Mary has been able to purchase at
reasonable price. A motion was made by
Sheila to budget $50/mo for centerpieces, it
was 2nd by Alison and motion carried. Sue had
purchased a few jewelry items online and gave
those to Mary to use.
Communications - Michelle informed us
that we are on CAPS TV, she has submitted
info to the Ventura Co Star. She would like to
get photos from installation to submit. Alison
and
Darian’s
husband
worked
on
downloading Mary’s pictures and getting them
to Michelle. (Written report was sent by email
to members)
Member at Large – Jim went to the storage
facility and went through the items there.
Said there are a lot papers that can be
shredded. Shirley has been looking for The
Articles of Incorporation but has not been
able to find them. It was decided that Anna
would contact Merle Divita to see if she
knows where they might be. If unable to
locate, Anna will contact Julie Saltoun to see if
she can help us out.
Hospitality – Jann will be sending out private
emails ahead of time for table hostesses
instead of trying to solicit them when they
enter the meeting. She mentioned that Rick
White of Mini wants to be more involved and
would like to have something at the
dealerships for members. It was mentioned
that maybe his company might consider a
corporate membership. If they go that route it
was decided $100 would come off of the bag
sponsorship.

centerpieces and had received a donation
from Island Packers for one of their boat
excursions.

would be an additional entrée to choose from

seminars Julie Saltoun’s firm – Schneiders &
Assoc, has been holding.
New Business – A discussion was held
about tipping our server, Alex, more
frequently. After discussion, it was decided to
give him a $50 voucher to use at our silent
auction, since he seems to enjoy them. Sue
brought up discussion about VCPWN placing
an ad in the American Latino Magazine being
published by Adam Casillas of the Latino
Business Expo. It was decided to wait until
next year to re-visit it since deadline is
7/1/13. Discussion held regarding a laptop or
netbook for Shirley and future CFO’s to use
that would be loaded with software for doing
invoicing and other financial reports. Since
netbooks don’t have the capability of running
the discs, it was decided a laptop would be
better. Alison said laptops can be purchased
for $300-$400. She will check on pricing.
There will be a discussion next month about
offering renewal members scholarships.
Meeting adjourned 8:30 pm
Respectfully recorded by Anna Kittleson and
