LEADERSHIP TEAM MEETING

Communications - Michelle McConica
Will contact Rick White re: August 16th event.
eBlast went out today (July 18) to Master List
promoting August meeting, meeting sponsor,
and Table Top Expo.
Table Top Expo posted on FaceBook,
Linked-In and 3 eBlasts.
New member breakfast – 3 new members
want to be on Communications committee
August meeting posted in: VC Star, Conejo
Valley Guide, Happenings Magazine, and Big City

Micki Rickard, Jim Nicoll, Anna Kittleson,
Lynn Ryder, and Darian Taylor.
ABSENT: Michelle McConica, Sheila Lowe,

President Darian Taylor called the meeting to
order at 6:25 pm.
Sue moved that minutes of June meeting be
approved, Micki 2nd, motion carried.
Membership/Webmaster –Sheila Lowe
Table discussion of scholarships until next
month.
New Member Breakfast – Sue will email list of
who was interested in which committee.
DIRECTOR REPORTS:
Pres Elect/Programs- Sue Osborn – Craig
Duswalt – “rock star” August speaker

Special Events - Micki Rickard
Postcards (1000 ordered) didn’t show up
today as promised (at least by meeting time).
Micki will take to BNI mixer. A lot of interest
in Expo. Taking applications for tables and
listings on bag. Some aren’t members yet so
need to wait until August.
Finance –Shirley Jones Snyder
Cash on hand $9918.74.
Shirley found version of Bylaws..to be
authenticated as latest. VCPWN is a 509 (a)(2)
organization (since 1983) not a 501(c)(3).
Need to change our paperwork on letters, etc.
We’ve been filing our taxes as a 501 (c)(3). We
will ask Julie Saltoun for advise.

Centerpieces made $128 last meeting. With
only 30 people in attendance. Sue buys on
eBay form LiquidationChannel.com for
centerpieces.
August 16: Rick White wants us to help him
promote his mixer. (After-hour mixer-5:30
pm on a Friday with catered food. No cost to
guests. Tours and test drives.) Discussion:
Ways VCPWN member can market: Can put
on FaceBook and LinkedIn; Blog; Buy an ad
to go out with meeting announcement( Micki
will ask Michelle cost of business card ad);
Can put flyers on table; Blow your own horn.
Hospitality –Jann Huling
No report.
Member at Large –
Nothing new.
Immediate Past President – Mary Gabriels
Mary took suggestions from Camarillo
chamber expo attendees. Suggested that
having an MC is distracting for the vendors
because it takes talking time away from them.
Better if MC only talks when giving out
prizes. Suggested that we put VCPWN
advertising on back of program –i.e. next
meeting, etc. Also possibly put a map of the
Expo tables on program.
Secretary – Lynn Ryder
Needs to send letters asking for IPad
donation. ASAP
Old Business –
Phil Bullard- our insurance guy - will be here
next month.
Laptop for Shirley – Need to buy the software
as well. Alison will get pricing for laptop,
Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks.
Bags: Come in black or silver, so we will do
black. 10” x 12” printing space on the bag.
Eight large squares (for logos) on one side
and up to 14 lines (for company name) on the
other. 52 characters per line.
Cost: 150 bags (2-sided) for $727 or 250 bags
for $1051.69. Set up and printing included.
Articles of Incorporation – Shirley will talk to
Julie Saltoun.
How to read a financial statement – tabled
until next month.
Executive Board v. Leadership Team – The
four executive board positions (Pres, VP, Sec,
Treas.) are responsible for the entire
organization and should be the voting
members. One of the primaries should make
the motions and Executive board should have
separate meetings as well. We will consult
with Julie Saltoun.
Alison moved to order 250 bags at $1051.69.
($3.25each). Shirley seconded. Motion carried.
Mary needs to find format for sending art and
to whom?
Mary won free 6 months free storage. Gave to
Micki to put in silent auction.
Linda Wall to get married on Saturday.
Sending her a card from VCPWN.
New Business –
Chronic Resilience contest – essay contest.
Subject is “who inspires your chronic
resilience?” 1000 words or less. Submit by
Talked with Rita. Mary will give her gift for
being on board for so many years and being
so helpful. She will give Mary member board.

Friday, July 26. $250 to winner. Sponsored by
Diannea Horn.
(Navigators are wondering if we have money;
if we’re audited; if we’re still doing the
“normal” things. Do we need a “state of
VCPWN” summary published? Maybe put a
summary of board meeting on back of hot
sheet?
*We will have a copy of minutes available at
check-in table for next meeting and announce
at general meeting when next board meeting
will be. (Print out 10)
Organize groups to go to events (like visiting
the Alpaca Ranch last year). Suggested events:
• Santa Paula Hot Air Balloon festival
