VENTURA COUNTY PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S NETWORK
LEADERSHIP TEAM MEETING
February 20, 2014
IN ATTENDANCE: Darian Taylor, Mary
Gabriels, Sue Osborn, Sheila Lowe, Michelle
McConica, Jim Nicoll, Anna Kittleson, Jann
Huling, Micki Rickard, Shirley Jones Snyder
and Lynn Ryder.
Shirley hire Paul Scott to get Quickbooks up
and running. Sheila 2nd, motion carried.
Immediate Past President – Mary Gabriels
Last meeting’s door prizes was popular. We
will do again in March but try to streamline
process. Gifts will be displayed in the middle
of the tables and pulled from there in between
dinner and other breaks in the agenda.
President Darian Taylor called the meeting to
order at 6:15 pm.
Sue moved that minutes of January meeting
be approved, Sheila 2nd, motion carried.
Mary showed a mock-up of the guest card.
She will get bids for the printing.
DIRECTOR REPORTS:
Pres Elect/Programs- Sue Osborn
Julia Brownley speaker for March 20 meeting.
Lynn Ryder to sponsor.
Mary’s working on the candidates for the new
Board. We still need someone to fill the
Communications
Director
position.
Mentoring was dropped as a committee.
Discussion of whether dinner should be sit
down or buffet. Decided to go with buffet.
Membership/Webmaster –Sheila Lowe
Sheila will send the new member badges to
those who have joined but not come to the
meetings to pick up badge. Sue will call to
follow up with them.
Finance –Shirley Jones Snyder
Cash flow statement $8067.88.
Insurance renewal. Open for bids (to include
Anna Kittleson, Helayne Warschaw, and Ted
Bustamante.)Bids must be in by Feb. 28.
Darian to scan present policies to send to
bidders.
Member at Large – Jim Nicoll
Jim will distribute VCPWN brochures at all
Chamber events.
Communications - Michelle McConica
Waiting for Julia Brownley’s information so
she can send out eBlast.
Shirley needs IT person to get Quickbooks to
run properly on new laptop. Sue moved that

There is a Womens’ Festival in Santa Barbara
at the Earl Warren Showgrounds March 7, 8,

Hospitality –Jann Huling
The change-up in hostess choosing has made
it more exciting at the tables.
Meeting adjourned 7:45 pm .

It’s difficult to get members to volunteer to be
greeters and/or sell raffle tickets.
Networking- Anna Kittleson
Anna will ask for nominations for the Spirit of
Networking Award to be given in May.

Old Business –
Julie Saltoun needs more info in order to
revise the By Laws. She needs a copy of the
Articles of Incorporation. No one has been
able to find the original Articles of
Incorporation.
Galz Expo on April 19 at Poinsettia Pavilion.
Check has been sent to secure an exhibit table
for VCPWN.
5, 10, 15 year pins to be given out at March
meeting.
New Business –
There are only 4 card holders (for guest
speakers) left, so Mary will get a quote for an
order with the new logo.
Members will be able to submit questions to
Julia Brownley before the Mar. 20 meeting.
Deadline for questions is Mar 10.
