VENTURA COUNTY PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S NETWORK
LEADERSHIP TEAM MEETING
May 15, 2014
IN ATTENDANCE: Darian Taylor, Mary
Gabriels, Sue Osborn, Michelle McConica, ,
Anna Kittleson, Micki Rickard, Shirley Jones
Snyder and Lynn Ryder.

ABSENT: Jann Huling, Sheila Lowe
Mary will offer her help to Celia for the
Expo. Micki will also be on team.
Tabled a motion that we add another
member-at-large position until leadership
team retreat.
Membership/Webmaster –Sheila Lowe
Report sent to Darian: Suggested that we limit
“blow your own horn” time and remind
everyone that it’s for members only.
President Darian Taylor called the meeting to
order at 6:22 pm.
Sue moved that minutes of April meeting be
approved, Mary 2nd, motion carried.
Recording Secretary – Lynn Ryder
- July speaker: Maggie Dennison “Master
the Message”
- August speaker: Linda and Brent
Anderson “Unintentional Humor”
DIRECTOR REPORTS:
Pres Elect/Programs- Sue Osborn
- June’s speaker: 4 Brix Winery
- Sheila Lowe sponsor.
Member at Large – Jim Nicoll
- “We miss you postcards” to be sent to
members not attending meetings and unrenewed members.
Finance –Shirley Jones Snyder
- Cash flow report: $7009.77
- Insurance company may reimburse
VCPWN for low claims.
- Women’s Legacy Fund elections; will
review paperwork.
Communications - Michelle McConica
- Will start June eblast
- Will train Ferne on Vertical Response
when she gets back from vacation.
- Created a “how to” packet for training.
Immediate Past President – Mary Gabriels
- Table centerpiece “duty” will be turned
over to Celia as a Special Events
responsibility. However, Mary will do
centerpieces for June.
- VCPWN PO Box key will be given to
Micki.
Special Events - Micki Rickard
- Micki will stay on committee
- Visitor card sample passed around.
Everyone liked the message. These will be

given to visitors when they check in.
(Micki will Chair Hospitality committee).
Also, Micki (as Hospitality Chair) will
make up the visitor’s name tags ahead of
time so they’re ready and waiting and
welcoming when visitors walk in.

WEV- Sue tentatively arranged for
VCPWN to put certificates in graduation
packages which offer a 50% discount for
first year membership to VCPWN.
Darian moved that we include certificates
in WEV packets and scan the offer into
the newsletter. Anna 2nd. Motion carried.
Darian will hand over the insurance
papers to Sue.
Hospitality –Jann Huling

Networking- Anna Kittleson
- Needs phone numbers for past “Spirit of
Networking” award winners. Will take
some time at “blow your own horn” to
educate members more about the scope
of the award.

- Articles of Incorporation: Darian and
Shirley will look in storage.
- Lynn to find out how long we need to
keep records.
- Revised by-laws still not completed.
- New business card holders are ready and
Mary will give to Shirley.
- Galz Expo – not worth it. Won’t do
again.
New Business –
- Shirley Lorraine to do new board
installation
- Leadership team retreat on May 31 at
Pierpont from 9-1 in the Santa Rosa
Room.
- Sue brought up that Sneiders and Assoc
put out a client alert that there is a form
to change name on EIN for who
manages funds and assets for the
organization.
