Monday
Teacher Name:
Chapter 11A Area of
Plane Figures
2/16/15 – 2/20/15
What are we learning? 11.3 Perimeter and Area of Similar Figures
Daily Objective:
 I will be able to discover the effect of perimeter and area when dimensions of similar
figures.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 G.8.A: Find areas of regular polygons, circles, and composite figures.
 G.11.B: Use ratios to solve problems involving similar figures.
 G.11.C: Develop, apply, and justify triangle similarity relationships, such as right
triangle ratios, trigonometric ratios, and Pythagorean triples using a variety of
methods.
 G.11.D: Describes the effect on perimeter, area, and volume when the dimensions of
a figure are changed and applies this idea in solving problems.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Students will work with their shoulder partner to discover the effect on perimeter
and area when dimensions of a figure are changed.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods:
 Student explain their findings from activity.
Checks for Understanding:
 Students will be called up to the board to fill in their answers and explain what they
discovered about the effect on perimeter and area when dimensions of a figure are
changed.
What do I need to be successful?
Materials:
 Chapter 11A Packet
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW:
