Chapter 11B
2/16/15-2/20/15
Topic: 11.6 Area of Regular Polygons Day 1
What are we learning?
Daily Objective:
 I will be able to find the area of regular polygons inscribed in triangles using SRT
trigonometry, and area of triangles.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 G.3.C: Use logical reasoning to prove statements are true and find counter examples
to disprove statements that are false
 G.8.A: Find areas of regular polygons, circles, and composite figures
 G.9.B: Formulate and test conjectures about the properties and attributes of
polygons and their component parts based on explorations and [concrete] models
 G.10.B: Justify and apply triangle congruence relationships
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Students will fill out area of polygons flip book over deriving the formula for the area
of a regular polygon.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly
Assessment Methods:
 Teacher will take one of the students foldable and present it on the Elmo.
Checks for Understanding:
 Teacher will ask questions for the students to explain their findings on deriving the
formula for the area of regular polygons.
What do I need to be successful?
 Chapter 11B Packet
 Area of Regular Polygons Foldable
What do I need to before next class?
Follow Up/HW:
 HW: Complete 11.6 Area of Regular Polygons Day 1
 EOC #3 due Tuesday
Topic: 11.6 Area of Regular Polygons Day 2/EOC #3 Due

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Students will work in groups of 3 or 4 to investigate different n-gons with the radius
of 10 inches: 50-gon, 80-gon, 95-gon, 110-gon, 250-gon, and 400-gon.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly
Assessment Methods:
 Groups will have to find the circumference from each n-gon and present.
Checks for Understanding:
 Groups will present their findings on the board from the activity. Students will explain
the relationship between the more sides of a polygon with the same radius.
What do I need to be successful?
 Chapter 11B Packet
