What are we learning?
Daily Objective:
 I will be able to identify patterns to discover the ratio for the sides of a special 45-4590 right triangle.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
 G.5.D: Identify and apply patterns from right triangles to solve meaningful problems,
including special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90) and triangles whose sides are
Pythagorean triples.

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
 Students will work in pairs to complete a table to discover a pattern for the ratio of
the sides of a special 45-45-90 right triangle.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods:
 Students must complete table using Pythagorean Theorem to discover the pattern for
the side lengths of special 45-45-90 triangles.
Checks for Understanding:
 Students will use the person next to them to check their table for special 45-45-90
triangles.
 After the students complete the table, the teacher will ask Key Questions:
1) What type of triangle is a 45-45-90 special right triangle?
2) What is the relationship between the lengths of the sides of any 45-45-90 special
right triangle?
3) Express the above relationship in terms of x.

“Review Special Right Triangles” worksheets found in their Chapter 7 packet.
