Stage 3 – Learning Plan
DIFFERENTIATION (I-3) There are several ways to individualize instruction for your students
How will I scaffold and/or accelerate learning? For whom? How will I group my students?
SCAFFOLD: Mathematical representations reinforce notions taught in Algebra 2, Geometry, and Pre-calculus;
foreshadow calculus topics.
Many concepts repeat in different guises: namely conservation of energy shows up in many forms. In this unit, for
example, conservation of energy resurfaces as Bernoulli’s equation.
ACCELERATE: Students who finish 9B/C early may proceed ahead to 9D.
GROUP: (pre-teaching or re-teaching): Friday often re-iterates Wednesday’s lesson (if a difficult topic).
Learning Activities: Lecture, demonstration; guided and independent practice (individually and in peer groups) of
problem-solving skills.
