Dr. Suess Contour Lines
Objective:
Students will create an original artwork utilizing contour lines, form, and volume. Shading will be
applied for emphasis.
1.
Students will draw random lines on 12x18 brown craft paper, and then selectively edit lines
(turning lines into shapes).
2. Contour lines will be applies to the flat shapes, giving them 3-D volume. Each form should be
completely separate from the form next to it (no two forms should run together).
3. Using colored pencil, light and shadow should be applied to each form. Each form should have a
separate color scheme.
