Daily Objective: (Note – Due to STAAR Testing we will only be meeting with 1st and 3rd Period
on Monday) Analyze the moral dilemmas and quandaries presented in works of fiction as
revealed by the underlying motivations and behaviors of the characters.

Learning Activities: Finish reading Richard Matheson’s “Button, Button” and complete Open
Ended Response Questions; Compare the story to the Twilight Zone adaptation

Checks for Understanding: Discussion groups following film adaptation (20:06)

Materials: Textbook or laptop, pen

Follow Up/HW: Complete short answer questions if not finished in class

Daily Objective: SWBAT analyze how complex plot structures (e.g., subplots) and devices
(e.g., foreshadowing, flashbacks, suspense) function and advance the action in a work of
fiction.

Learning Activities: Students will read “Memento Mori” by Jonathan Nolan and respond to a
writing prompt and analyze how the author manipulates time and perspective to build
suspense

Assessment Methods: Students will respond to a detailed writing prompt
