SPANISH 1 Chapter 3 Mrs.Lara 1/6 – 2/6 Stage 1 – Desired Results Understanding (s)/goals: Essential Question(s): EU1.1: The student will differentiate between foods commonly eaten during breakfast, lunch, and dinner EU1.2: The student will learn about eating customs of Spanish-speaking countries EU1.3: The student will discuss how in the U.S. we enjoy many foods indigenous to Spanish-speaking countries. EQ1: 1.1: What influences what I eat during breakfast/lunch/dinner? 1.2: How does what I do/eat affect my physical health? 1.3: How important is food to culture? 1.4: Why are foods different in different countries? 1.5: Do different cultures have habits that differ from ours when it comes to meals and food? How are these customs similar or different? Eu2.1 The Spanish-speaking world is made up of many different countries, each with their own culture. EQ2: 2.1: How do I demonstrate an understanding of the similarities, differences, and interactions across cultures and languages? EU2.2: Cultural comparisons help one to understand the world by developing tolerance and appreciation of other cultures. Student Outcomes (objectives): SO1.1: I can learn/identify new vocabulary related to breakfast, lunch and dinner. SO1.2: I can describe food/beverages I do/don’t love, like or prefer. SO1.3: I can express how often something is done. SO1.4: I can conjugate –ER & -IR verbs in the present tense. SO1.5: I can write sentences using the verbs ESTAR and SER. SO1.6: I can list healthy and unhealthy lifestyle activities/food. SO1.7: I can write adjectives in their plural form SO1.8: I can show the Spanish grammar structure by writing, speaking in the target language through written/oral activities. SO2.1: I can analyze and differentiate culture from Puerto Rico SO2.2: I can understand cultural perspectives on meals. 2.2: What is the Spanishspeaking world like? 2.3: What is it like growing up in a Spanish speaking country?
