SPANISH 1 Mrs.Lara CHAPTER 5 3/23 – 4/17 Stage 1 – Desired Results Understanding (s)/goals: EU1.1: Understand cultural perspectives on family EU1.2: The perspectives, practices and people define their family. EU1.3: Families are basic units in society EU1.4: Express feelings appropriately in formal and informal situations EU2.1: The student will differentiate between foods commonly eaten during breakfast, lunch, and dinner EU2.2: The student will learn about eating customs of Spanish-speaking countries EU2.3: The student will discuss how in the U.S. we enjoy many foods indigenous to Spanish-speaking countries. Eu3.1 The Spanish-speaking world is made up of many different countries, each with their own culture. EU3.2: Cultural comparisons help one to understand the world by developing tolerance and appreciation of other cultures. Essential Question(s): EQ1: 1.1: How does having different kinds of families make the world and our classroom community a richer place? 1.2: What makes some families different from others and in what ways is your own family unique? 1.3: What is family? Student Outcomes (objectives): SO1.1: I can learn/identify new vocabulary related to family/age/animals/parties & celebrations. SO1.2: I can describe my family. SO1.3: I can make use of possessive adjectives. SO1.4: I can conjugate the verb TENER/PONER/HACER SO1.5: I can describe what someone likes and don’t likes to do in their free time. SO1.6: I can show the Spanish grammar structure by talking/writing in the target language through oral/written activities. 1.4: What do I need to know to celebrate events? EQ2: SO2.1: I can learn/identify new vocabulary related to 2.1: What influences people, food & restaurant. what I eat during breakfast/lunch/dinner? SO2.2: I can describe family members. 2.2: How important is SO2.3: I can explain SER vs ESTAR food to culture? 2.3: Why are foods SO2.4: I can conjugate the verb VENIR different in different countries? 2.4: Do different cultures have habits that differ from ours when it comes to meals and food?
