Activities: Framing Questions: How many telephone numbers does your family have? Do you think we will ever run out of telephone numbers? Students discuss the idea of running out of phone numbers. Take a poll to find different area codes for phone numbers students know from memory and record the lis.t. Pairs or 3’s: Questions 1 – 2 Review Fundamental Counting Principle Pairs or 3’s: Questions 3 – 4; Post results and find mistakes in each other’s work. Whole-Class Discussion Independently answer Question 5 Assessment: Question 5 Materials: Student Activity 3 – “Not Enough Numbers” Objective 6: Apply, compare, and contrast ratios, rates, ratings, averages, weighted averages, or indices to make informed decisions. Activities: Warm-Up: Show students the number on a tire (P245/75R16). Have them identify the meanings of parts of the numbers they know.
