Class Procedures

TEAM PHILOSOPHY: Classroom will be one that fosters learning and security through
open mindedness of student and teacher, rigorous curriculum, and grit. For optimum
creativity in thinking, writing students have to feel comfortable expressing themselves in
the confines of my room. Conflict is inevitable in high school, but bullying will not be
tolerated.
Beginning Class
Wait outside door along the wall with ID on; Mr. Adams will greet you and mark you
present.
Enter class grab journal from colored crate and sit in assigned seat.
Once seated immediately copy objective and begin Do Now in journal
Students will turn in homework assignments by rows at Mr. Adams command.
o Home work should be out on desk awaiting signal to be turned in
If you have Make-Up work turn it in after peers have started Do Now
Soon as students cross the threshold of the door it’s GAME TIME. “Flip the switch”
and be ready to roll.
During Class
5 minutes after Do Now Mr. Adams will ask students to share
o Random student will read objective for the day
Class is quiet during P.A. announcements facing TV and listening to announcements
When receiving handouts students will grab paper from tray specified by Mr. Adams
Heading on Paper: Name, Date, Period, and Assignment Title
Student will rarely be able to go to bathroom and will only be permitted in case of
emergencies
Class work will be turned in by being passed to the front rows of the class
Student will raise there hands to ask for help and answer questions
o When answering questions “I Don’t Know” wont suffice as an answer
No student will leave class, or be permitted in class without a Hall Pass
Illegal Procedure: Student will not walk around class without permission
o Class will have ample opportunity for movement for kinetic learners
Students must have book readily available for silent reading.
Quizzes can be administered on any day during the school year
Tests will only be administered on Mondays or block days
o Students will be asked to separate desks on Testing days
When group work is assigned all students are expected to participate and stay on task
Videos will be used as an aide, when on, students are attentive and quiet
Notebooks will be organized as specified by Mr. Adams when new papers are being
placed in students’ binder.
Computer will be used in groups as an aide to enhance curriculum
Students are expected to be listening attentively to all directions and announcements
given by Mr. Adams
Students may be selected at random for assigned readings and dependent practice.
Absolutely no food or drinks in class
Special Situation
In case of Fire Drill students will follow Mr. Adams instruction in accordance to
Westside’s safety protocol.
Student will not be permitted to library without a pass, and we’ll
When guest speaker is talking students are expected to give them their undivided
attention.
o Handouts may accompany lesson of guest speaker
Ending Class
Assigned homework will be posted on white board
Students will have opportunity to put away materials after CFU’s.
Upon leaving classroom is expected to be in near or better condition than it was
before students entered the class.
Check For Understandings will be used in class to identify if students are retaining
skills from TEKS
o Funny Faces
o Fist of 5
Mr. Adams will dismiss class and students are expected to leave in orderly fashion

Hand Signals
Raise Hand – raise your hand to ask/answer questions or provide insight in class
discussion
If you need a pen hold up your index finger,
o Students are expected to have school supplies everyday
Cross index finger and middle finger to signal restroom break
