Liberty LADY FLAMES
(19-8, 14-2 Big South)
Lynchburg, Va. - Vines Center - 7 p.m.
Today’s Game
Liberty (19-8, 14-2 Big South) will welcome UNC Asheville (7-19, 3-12 Big South) to the
Vines Center Monday evening at 7 p.m. The game will be a possible preview of the first
round of the Big South Women’s Basketball Championship.
The “Starting Five” - Today’s Top Storylines
1) Monday’s contest could preview the first round of the Big South Women’s Basketball
Championship. Liberty clinched the tournament’s No. 1 seed with its Saturday win over
Gardner-Webb. Meanwhile, UNC Asheville would be in position for the No. 8 seed if the
season ended today. The two teams have not squared off in the Big South Championship
since 2005.
2) If it wins on Monday, Liberty would tie the Big South single-season record with its 15th
conference victory. Additionally, the Lady Flames would seal their 14th 20-win season in
program history.
3) UNC Asheville will attempt to snap a few losing streaks. The Bulldogs have lost eight
straight games overall, nine straight games against Liberty and 15 consecutive road
games, dating back to last season.
4) Devon Brown will aim to continue her stellar play against UNC Asheville. She is averaging 26.0 ppg during her last two matchups with the Bulldogs.
5a) Monday’s game will present a pair of intriguing head-to-head matchups. Under the
basket, Liberty’s Avery Warley will square off with Asheville’s Kelli Riles. Warley ranks No.
6 nationally in rebounding, with Riles close behind at No. 9.
5b) On the perimeter, talented freshmen Reagan Miller of Liberty and Shonese Jones of
Asheville will go against one another. Both of them have won three Big South Freshman of
the Week honors this season. Miller tops Big South freshmen in assists at 3.9 apg, while
Jones leads conference rookies with 15.3 ppg.

A Look Back at Liberty’s Win Over Gardner-Webb on Saturday
-- Liberty posted a 76-44 win over Gardner-Webb, Saturday afternoon at the Vines Center,
marking the Lady Flames’ largest margin of victory in 11 all-time meetings with the defending Big South champion Runnin’ Bulldogs.
-- With the victory, Liberty clinched the Big South regular-season title and the No. 1 seed
for the Big South Women’s Basketball Championship.
-- Liberty raced out to a 31-4 lead to start the game and held the Runnin’ Bulldogs without
a field goal for the first 15:26 of the contest.
-- The Lady Flames won the rebounding battle for the 26th time in 27 games this year (5132) and held their 49th straight opponent to below 50 percent field goal shooting (GardnerWebb ended up at just 18.0 percent).
-- Liberty shot 51.8 percent from the field during the game, improving to 7-0 this season
and 85-1 under head coach Carey Green when making at least 50 percent of its field
goals.
-- Saturday marked Senior Day at the Vines Center, and the Lady Flames’ senior duo of
Danika Dale and Avery Warley played well. The two players combined for 25 points and
24 rebounds on the afternoon.
-- Dale ended up with seven points and nine rebounds, falling just one board shy of her
career high.
-- Warley led all players in both points (18) and rebounds (15), recording her 12th doubledouble of the season. During the game, she became the first Big South player ever to
surpass 1,200 career rebounds.
-- Devon Brown added 17 points, moving up to No. 6 in program history with 1,344 career
points.
-- Reagan Miller joined Warley and Brown in double figures with 10 points, highlighted
by two triples. Miller has now made 49 three-pointers this season, which is the most by a
Liberty freshman since Cynthia Thomson hit 64 triples in 1989-90.
See You Again Soon?
-- Liberty has clinched the No. 1 seed for the Big South Women’s Basketball Championship, while UNC Asheville currently resides in the No. 8 position. So, the Lady Flames and
Bulldogs would square off in the first round if the season ended today.
-- The Lady Flames are 5-0 all-time against the Bulldogs in the Big South Women’s Basketball Championship, but the two teams have not faced off in the tournament since March
12, 2005. That day, Liberty posted an 88-41 win over Asheville in the championship game
at the Vines Center.
Fabulous Freshman
-- For the second week in a row and the third time this season, Liberty point guard Reagan
Miller has been honored as Big South Freshman of the Week.
-- Miller is the first Liberty rookie since Jelena Antic in 2009-10 to win back-to-back Freshman of the Week awards and three honors during a single season.
Keeping Good Company
-- Liberty Head Coach Carey Green’s squads have traditionally rebounded well and played
strong defense. This year’s edition of the Lady Flames is no different, as the team ranks
No. 1 nationally in rebound margin (+15.4) and No. 12 in field goal percentage defense
(.340).

Watch Out, Watkins!
-- Avery Warley is in line to tie a program record when she takes the court Monday evening. It will be the redshirt senior’s 127th career appearance, tying Courtney Watkins’
Liberty record.
-- Watkins has held the record since March 16, 2008, when she broke Michelle Parker’s
standard of 125 games during Liberty’s Big South Women’s Basketball Championship title
game win over Radford in Asheville, N.C.
-- Like Warley, Watkins never missed a game in her collegiate career.

since Megan Frazee tallied 31 second-half points at Virginia on Nov. 20, 2006.
-- Broke Katie Feenstra’s program career rebounding record during the first half of the
Jan. 7 game against High Point, when she pulled down her 1,034th career board.
