Project, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
The division of Project, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) belongs to the
Department of Management and Engineering at Linköping University. PIE performs
research, education and executive education on industrial project and innovation
management and industrial growth and development. This includes the interplay between
technological development, product and solutions development, industrialization processes
and production as well as business development and entrepreneurship, especially early
development of knowledge intensive businesses. Currently the division is staffed with
among others two full professors, two associate professors and four assistant professors.
Research at PIE
Our research covers central processes for industrial firms: innovation and technology management, project management, entrepreneurship and early development processes for new, knowledge intensive ventures.
Education by PIE
PIE is responsible for courses at
several educational programmes at
Linköping University, mainly at
the Institute of Technology. The
focus of these courses is industrial
management, project management
and entrepreneurship.

PIE is also hosting the Centre of
Innovation and Entrepreneurship
(CIE), which manages the Entrepreneurship Programme (ENP)
and other training programmes for
knowledge-intensive companies in
Sweden and abroad. Through
CIE, the division is linked up with
SMIL, a regional network of hundreds of companies in the
Linköping area.

PIE support to external organisations
PIE has the ambition to support
industrial and other organisations
(e.g. incubators and industry
associations), that are involved in
project management, innovation
and entrepreneurial processes.
This is achieved through a close
co-operation with companies in
our research projects and in executive training programmes.
