Project task
1. Find a few other references, to reach the total number of 10-15.
2. Make summaries of each reference paper; each on about one
single page (A4). These make up the half-time report.
3. Write a scientific paper (as the studied ones). This should include a
discussion of the related literature (i.e. the papers that you have
been studying), a comparison between the contributions from
various authors (e
(e.g.
g similarities and differences),
differences) and then a
model of your own, that is based on current research but includes
somee eextension
so

4. Make a presentation in the last seminar of the course. Prepare a
PowerPoint presentation for about 15-20 minutes.
Grading structure

Purpose of literature review
• Identify a research topic, question or hypothesis
• Identify the research contribution
• Understand theoretical concepts and terminology
• Build a bibliography of the sources that have been
consulted
• Suggest research methods that might be useful
• Analyze and interpret results.
Steps in literature review
Information sources
• Evaluate information sources
• Scholarly and research journals
• Search and locate information resources
• Professional journals
• Develop conceptual frameworks and mind map
• Book

Search literature
Citation pearl growing
Start with one or a few documents
Use suitable terms in those to retrieve others
Briefsearch
Retrieve a few documents crudely and quickly
A good starting point for further work
Building blocks
Take the concepts in search statement
Extends them by using synonyms and related terms
A thorough, but possible lengthy search

Reduce a large or too large set of documents
Search within documents to eliminate less relevant or useful documents
Conceptural framework
