Service Definitions:
HIV Prevention Education: Provision of HIV primary and/or secondary education. May be peer or staff delivered.
HIV Training of Peer Educators: Standardized peer education program. Utilizes a curriculum designed for delivery within correctional facility sites.
Training consists of multiple education sessions and skills building activities related to presentation and inter-personal negotiation.
HIV Counseling & Testing: Delivery of on-site anonymous HIV counseling and testing, partner notification assistance and referral.
HIV Support Services: Provision of individual and/or group support services. Allows for dialogue on HIV-related issues and concerns. Offers
social/emotional support to HIV infected and affected inmates. Support services may be peer or staff delivered/facilitated.
Transitional Planning: A multi-step, short term service which helps to ensure a continuum of care for HIV-infected pre-release inmates who have
disclosed their HIV status within the correctional facility.
