Graduate Course Credit Requirements 1) must be 400 or 500 level courses 2) at least 3 credits of mathematics from the following list - any 400 and 500 level MATH courses except MATH 461, 470, 471 and 484 - ME 497D Applied Numerical Methods, ME 550, E MCH 524A, E MCH 524B 3) at least 12 credits in 400 or 500 level Mechanical Engineering courses 4a) Option A - at least 12 credits in 500 level courses (may be ME or any other department) - ME 596 cannot be used to fulfill this requirement 4b) Options B and C - at least 18 credits in 500 level courses (may be ME or any other department) - up to three credits of ME 596 may be used to fulfill this requirement 5) at least 20 credits must be completed at University Park 6) minimum grade point average of 3.00 for graduate course credits 7) Courses required for the B.S. degree cannot be used to fulfill M.S. degree requirements. - ME 410, 440W, 441W, 450, 494, 496 - Stat 401 - IE 430, 424 8) Preparatory courses required for teaching assistants cannot be used to fulfill M.S. degree requirements. - ENGR 588 9) Remedial courses cannot be used to fulfill M.S. degree requirements. 10) Although the Graduate School permits up to ten graduate course credits to be transferred from an accredited institution, the Department will only allow up to six transfer credits to be used to fulfill M.S. degree requirements. 11) Registration for 1-credit of ME 590 Graduate Seminar (Pass/Fail) and attendance at 8 out of 12 seminars are required for first-year graduate students for both Fall and Spring semester, beginning Fall semester 2008.
