Other
In addition, several other organizations plan to arrange/conduct or support tourism
activities in the Antarctic during the 1998-99 season. Although some of these
organizations are not U.S. based, American citizens are most likely involved in their
planned activities and for this reason are reported here.
SHIPBORNE
a) Hapag-Lloyd Cruises of Hamburg, Germany, operated two vessels in the Antarctic
Peninsula. The Hanseatic and the Bremen conducted 7 cruises each.
b) Marine Expeditions of Toronto, Canada, conducted approximately 25 cruises to the
Antarctic Peninsula using the Akademik Shuleykin, the Akademik Ioffe and the Disko.
