Introduction © Bosch Rexroth AG 2010 Bosch Rexroth Mellansel AB delivers complete drive solutions for industrial applications where low rotational speed and high torque is required. Customer focus is important for Bosch Rexroth Mellansel and it is important to help customer to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by being more energy efficient and improving the availability of the hydraulic system. At present coolers for the hydraulic systems are dimensioned using thumb rules. Presently cooling systems are designed such that the cooling strategy is designed for worst efficient operating point possible in load cycle. At efficient working points cooling flow corresponding to the worst efficient operating point creates wastage of energy. Work description This thesis work involves understanding operating principles of closed loop hydraulic dive systems. The losses in hydraulic systems which generates heat needs to be understood. The proposed thesis involves three main parts: 1. Develop mathematical model of heat generation and cooling of the hydraulic system and use this theoretical understanding to develop simulation models suing simulation tools like MATLAB, AMESim etc. 2. Investigate on different methods for cooling the hydraulic system efficiently. 3. Suggest methods to verify the simulation models.
