Why isn’t more and better biofuels
produced?
Background
Biofuels for transport are promoted as a mean to fight global warming, energy crisis
and sometimes also to enhance local development. To reach the national targets for
renewables in the transportation sector by the year 2020 set by the EU biofuels are
assumed to play a central role. This means that more biofuels with good
environmental performance but also with a reasonable economic performance needs
to be produced. How could such development be enabled?
Objectives
Describing barriers and drivers for production of biofuels for transport in Sweden.
Proposed Research Questions
Why are biofuels for transport in Sweden produced and why not more?
How do biofuel producers view future possibilities and barriers for increased
production?
Proposed Methodology
Survey study with questionnaire to different biofuel producers.
Qualifications
Students with Industrial economics background or similar.
Other information
Language: ................................ Swedish most be spoken by the students since the
interviews are performed in Swedish while the Master
thesis preferable is written in English.
