Biography for Steven G. Stone
Since joining the North Central State College Board of Trustees in 2008,
Steve has served as Vice Chairman of the College’s Board of Trustees
during 2009-2010 and Chairman during 2011-2012. Originally appointed to
the Board by Governor Ted Strickland, Steve now serves as a local
appointment for Ashland County. He currently serves as the Executive
Director of the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Ashland County and
has been in the community mental health field for over 25 years.
Steve maintained a private practice in Ashland for several years, has
worked as the director of an outpatient agency, and has been an adjunct
faculty member at Ashland University.
Steve has served on numerous community boards and has been an active member of the Ashland
community since moving there in 1979. He is a past-president of the Rotary Club of Ashland
and past-chair of the Leadership Ashland Advisory Council.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion/education and a Master of Arts degree in
counseling and psychology. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Public Policy at Union
Institute and University. He completed the Mental Health Executive Leadership Program at
Case Western Reserve University and is an approved mental health mediator.
Steve and his wife Marilyn have 2 sons and live in the Mapleton school district.
