Today’s Matchup
“4 Downs” with the Blue Hose
1 - Presbyterian
has recorded one victory over
Liberty in the last 29 seasons, a 31-28 triumph
in Clinton six years ago today (Nov. 1, 2008). The
Flames entered that game ranked No. 17 nationally and finished the 2008 season at 10-2. Additionally, PC has posted one winning season at the
FCS level, going 6-5 in 2007.
2 -
Liberty has won two consecutive contests
at Bailey Memorial Stadium, part of its current
five-game winning streak versus the Blue Hose.
The last time the Flames played in Clinton (Oct.
13, 2012), they racked up a program-record 692
yards of total offense in a 56-7 victory.
3 - This Presbyterian team is battle-tested, having
already faced three FCS Top 25 foes (No. 12 Furman, No. 3 Coastal Carolina and No. 22 Charleston Southern) and two FBS opponents (Northern
Illinois and NC State). Still to come on the Blue
Hose schedule is a Nov. 8 visit to Ole Miss, who is
7-1 and ranked No. 7 nationally at the FBS level.
Liberty and PC have combined for three victories
over nationally ranked FCS opponents this season.
4 - Saturday’s contest will mark PC’s fourth straight
week facing a Big South foe. The Blue Hose will
only have one conference game remaining (Nov.
15 at Gardner-Webb) following their matchup
with the Flames.

2 - Jacob Hagen needs two stops to become the
second Flame to reach 200 career tackles in as
many weeks, after Nick Sigmon achieved the
milestone against Gardner-Webb.
3 - With 176 career points, John Lunsford needs
three more to overtake Jay Kelley (1998-02) for
fifth place on Liberty’s all-time list for scoring
among kickers.
6 - Dylan Lewellyn is six tackles shy of 100 for his
career. He would become the fourth active Flame
with 100 or more career stops, joining Nick Sigmon, Jacob Hagen and Kenny Scott.
100 - Dante Shells is aiming to become the sixth
player in program history to record three consecutive 100-yard receiving efforts. Teammate Darrin Peterson reached the century mark in four
straight games earlier this season. This would
be the first time two different Flames have ever
achieved the feat in the same year.
349 -
Josh Woodrum needs 349 passing yards
to become the fourth quarterback in Liberty and
Big South Conference history to throw for 7,000
career yards.
A Liberty Win Would ...

road opener for the eighth straight season.
•Extend the Flames’ Big South road winning streak

the Flames their best mark through nine games
since the 2011 Flames started 6-3.
• Enable the Flames to start out at 2-0 in Big South
play for the seventh time in eight seasons.
•Give Turner Gill his 20th win in his third season as
Liberty’s head coach.

Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Robby Justino has
held the program record for passing yards at 9,548
since wrapping up his career in 1992. Junior Josh
Woodrum could put that mark in jeopardy during
his final two seasons with the Flames, and this
chart will track his progress.
Entering the Presbyterian game, Woodrum has
thrown for 6,651 yards, putting him 311 yards
ahead of Justino at the same stage of his career.
Justino threw for 369 yards during the ninth game
of his junior season, a 31-26 home setback to UCF.
