____________________________________________
Cecilia looks at challenges facing teachers and pupils with
hearing impairment in primary schools in Kenya. Focusing on
methodological issues, Cecilia will discuss issues of inadequate
and inaccessible teaching and learning resources, non-responsive
teaching and learning materials, challenges in the use of apposite
sign language and the use of non-inclusive assessment strategy.

Armando investigates the educational effects of a conditional cash
transfer programme called Bolsa Família in Brazil – particularly
effects associated with beneficiaries’ school performance as
measured by the results of Brazil’s national exams.
Research-in-Progress seminars are opportunities for DPhil students to present
their work in progress, receive feedback and engage with other students to
discuss educational research, methodological issues and challenges in the
field.
