ESW Seminar Series SOCIAL WORK Monday 18th October, 5.30pm Room 101, Fulton Building, University of Sussex campus, Falmer (www.sussex.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/campusmaps.php) Speaker Margaret Boushel, University of Sussex, presents: ‘Children’s rights in inter-professional settings: a golden thread or pie in the sky?’ ____________________________________ This seminar draws on the findings of a DPhil study of how professionals and para-professionals working interprofessionally in education, health and welfare settings provide preventative services for children and families and make sense of children’s rights and professional responsibilities. The study found that fluid and blurred disciplinary, professional and para-professional boundaries - along with lack of conceptual coherence or common language about children’s rights and overlapping discourses around rights, needs and risk – combined to present complex methodological and analytical challenges. These challenges will form the basis of discussion. * no registration necessary or fees applicable ** refreshments served from 5pm
