a golden thread or pie in the sky?’

This seminar draws on the findings of a DPhil study of how
professionals and para-professionals working interprofessionally in education, health and welfare settings
provide preventative services for children and families and
make sense of children’s rights and professional
responsibilities.
The study found that fluid and blurred disciplinary,
professional and para-professional boundaries - along with
lack of conceptual coherence or common language about
children’s rights and overlapping discourses around rights,
needs and risk – combined to present complex
methodological and analytical challenges.
These challenges will form the basis of discussion.
