This seminar will examine three aspects of GCSE
mathematics, drawing on the findings and experiences
from the Evaluating Mathematics Pathways (EMP)
project which explores the manageability and impact
of a range of possible new mathematics qualifications
in the 14-19 age range.
* Drawing on scripts from 100 students at grades A and C
higher tier in 2009, Geoff Wake explores how students
performed in algebra.
* Pat Drake explores the continuities and schisms in
mathematics pathways at the KS4 / post-16 interface.
* Andy Noyes presents some of the tensions and
systematic challenges in discussing, designing and
delivering changes to GCSE mathematics.
Refreshments will be served from 5pm
