MPS Weekly Update
5 March 2015
3rd Annual MPS Postgraduate
Research Day
Tuesday 28 April
9.30am-5.30pm
Creativity Zone
The PGR Committee is proud to announce the third annual MPS
PGR Research day taking place on Tuesday 28 April. The first two
events were a great success and showcased some of the amazing
work being undertaken by our postgraduate community in
Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy.
This year we hope to build on previous success by putting on
another great show and, further, by inviting guests from both Thales
and the Sussex Innovation Centre to get involved with our PGRs and
award coveted prizes to their favourite participants.

As the event organiser since its creation, I hope for my final Research

by the postgraduates of the years to come.

be put off by ‘2014’ - this is being remedied).

Congratulations to two of our 3rd year MMath students, Frankie
Jeffryes and Hayley Wragg, who have been admitted to the London
Mathematical Society’s prestigious Summer School.
The aim of the School is to introduce modern mathematics to the best
UK undergraduates who are not currently in their final year of study.
The School will be a combination of short lecture courses with problemsolving sessions and colloquium-style talks from leading
mathematicians.
The London Mathematical Society www.lms.ac.uk is the major UK
learned society for Mathematics. The Society’s activities include
publishing journals and books, providing grants to support mathematics
and organising scientific meetings and lectures.
