MPS Weekly Update
5 February 2015
New Head of Physics & Astronomy
Professor Philip Harris
finished his term of office as
Head of Department on
31 December. Prof Claudia
Eberlein has been appointed
new Head of Physics &
Astronomy from 1 January 2015.
A celebratory cake event, with something of a chocolate theme, was
held on Friday 30 January to thank Philip for his commitment during
his time in post, both to the department and to the School. He was
also presented with a bottle of his favourite whisky and an engraved
Dartington Crystal glass to enjoy sampling the ‘medication’!
He remains deputy head of school until further notice.
CONGRATULATIONS
… to Peter Giesl, Reader in
Mathematics (and Director of
Teaching & Learning) and
his wife Nicole on the arrival
of their third son, Oliver, on
Sunday 1 February.
