Designed to support theatre practitioners as they deepen their understanding of style, context, audience,
and point-of-view while using seminal plays from particular periods of artistic work (primarily from the
western canon); participants engage in research, direction, analysis, design, and performance.
Instructor - Theatre in Education I and Practices (Study Abroad: London, summer 2011)
Focused on nurturing notions of praxis through the negotiation of high-focus workshops, in-service
placements, and exposure to a thriving professional theatre environment; engaged with the individual
and collective examination of innovative theatre education in diverse contexts.
Instructor - Directing Youth Theatre (spring 2011)
Practical inquiry into the development and implementation of contemporary acting curricula for
adolescent and young adult actors.
Instructor - Methods and Materials of Research in Educational Theatre (fall 2010 & fall 2011)
Investigation of qualitative research methodologies, epistemological frameworks, strategies for analysis,
and the possibilities of arts-based representation in academic and artistic venues.

Focused on bridging theories of dramatic art and performance with teaching practice in a Ugandan context, surveying the history of traditional drama and indigenous Acholi practices, and unpacking theatre
structures within Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, applied theatre/community-engaged theatre models,
and Theatre for Development.
Instructor - Applied Theatre (Study Abroad: Uganda, summer 2007 and 2008)
Interrogation of the applications and facilitation of devised theatre in secondary Ugandan classrooms and
community settings.
Teaching Assistant - Styles of Acting and Directing II (spring 2010)
Co-facilitated this course exploring the implications of theatrical style and authorial presence through a
survey of 20th and 21st-century plays from a queer canon.
Teaching Assistant - Shakespeare’s Theatre II (spring 2009)
Co-facilitated this course focused on deepening understanding of Shakespeare’s diverse works, as well
as the process of creating and performing full-length productions of Shakespeare’s plays. Course taught
in conjunction with an ensemble of young actors, ages 12 - 18.

Co-facilitated this course highlighting contemporary and classical theatrical texts written by playwrights
from around the world; focused on ethics, aesthetics, and theatre for social justice.

Teacher Exchange Program Director: Invisible Children, US and Uganda, 2006 - 2010
Founded and developed educational programming for collegia of international teachers; created and
facilitated the program in Uganda, as well as various locations throughout the United States, paired educators in 4-6 week team teaching experiences at Ugandan and U.S. secondary schools.
Teaching and Learning Conference Director: Invisible Children, Uganda, 2007 - 2010
Founded conference to engage both Ugandan and international educators in dialogue regarding the
practice of teaching, the perceived limitations of various teaching contexts, and the possibilities for
cross-cultural collaboration in an effort to enhance schooling across the globe.
Sixth-Grade Teacher: Brooklyn Jesuit Prep, New York, 2005 - 2006
Instructed sixth-grade students, all male, in core subjects except science; constructed curricula in those
subjects. Created a classroom community focused on citizenship, group-work, and healthy relationships.
Area Coordinator: San Diego Central CYT, San Diego, 2002 - 2005
Facilitated classes and performances for youth ages 6 – 18; selected and managed teachers, directors,
and choreographers; solicited donations and applicable services from vendors; located and preserved
rehearsal facilities; coordinated volunteers; developed class curricula; and created new course offerings.
Education Outreach Team Member: Lamb’s Players Theatre, San Diego, 2001 - 2002
Performed as one of four cast members throughout schools in Southern California; collaborated on
devised scripts to be performed throughout the region; created curricula for summer intensives; and
implemented an immersion program for high school students who participated in lectures, workshops,
and performances.
