RECOMMENDATIONS • Mentorship of undergraduates — Your alumni are a large pool of mentors. • COLA Program: Can we track actual numbers? How many alumni are actually participating? • Attached alumni are more likely to be mentors, as well as donors. Use current donation outreach methods as a way to ask about potential mentorship. • Follow-up surveys: In future Gallup-Virginia Alumni surveys, provide the ability to opt into being contacted about mentorship. Copyright © 2015 Gallup, Inc. All rights reserved. 24 RECOMMENDATIONS • It’s not just applied jobs and internships, but applying them over time. • How are current students assisted in finding applied jobs or internships? Is potential length of internship information provided to them? • Are internship and job listings geared toward certain majors? Can those majoring in Art filter internship listings for those aimed at students in this field? • How can we integrate internships into classroom learning? Copyright © 2015 Gallup, Inc. All rights reserved. 25 RECOMMENDATIONS • Increase of semester or longer projects across majors • Perform an audit of all courses to determine which actually require a long-term project. • How many degrees require that a student perform a long-term project prior to graduation? • How many courses require a semester-long project?
