Workshop leaders’ biographies
Darren Dolcemascolo, Senior Partner, EMS Consulting Group
Darren Dolcemascolo is an internationally recognized lecturer, author, and consultant. As Sr. Partner and
co-founder of EMS Consulting Group, he specializes in the application of Lean strategies in medical device,
biotech, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology environments. Some of the clients for whom he has
worked include Covidien, DirecTV, Edwards Lifesciences, Hologic, Inland Empire Health Plan, Optum
Healthcare, Qualcomm, Teledyne, and Zimmer. In addition to working directly with clients, Mr.
Dolcemascolo teaches Lean workshops and certification programs in Southern California. Darren has a BS
in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from San Diego State University.
Ken Flaherty, Lead Lean Transformation Consultant, EMS Consulting Group
Ken Flaherty is a Senior Lean Transformation Consultant with over 20 years of experience. He has
leveraged his expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement, process
optimization, and multimillion-dollar savings in multiple industries. Ken holds an MS in Logistics & Supply
Chain Management, an MS in Business Management & Human Resources, and a BS in Workforce
Organizational Development. He is a Certified Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is also certified in
Project Management and Jonah Theory of Constraints.
