Understanding architecture through motion and experience is the focus of this reflection. It begins with the Earth. e present stability of coexisting systems is suddenly disrupted as shovels stab into the ground. Holes and hills are simultaneously formed. is relationship between the Earth and the space we occupy is an architectural constant. Nevertheless, the qualities of this relationship apparently vary greatly depending on cultural and social factors. is expedition to India prompted a re-evaluation of space, in my mind, upon my return to Charlottesville. e process of assembling a collage of video clips helped to reinforce these spatial comparisons. While viewing the footage, consider the following terms. MOVEMENT PROXIMITY DISTANCES STREETS CARS TRAFFIC SANITATION MAINTENANCE MOVEMENT + RHYTHM COMMUNITY PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION VOID SIZING + GAPS
