Welcome to the Navy!
On December 11, 2015 Savannah State
University/ Armstrong State University
(SSU/ASU) Navy Reserve Officer Training
Corps Unit (NROTCU) commissioned ten
Ensigns into the United States Navy. Eight
of them are now serving as Surface Warfare
Officers (ENS Bee, Brooks, Cartwright,
Hensley, Harriot, Scott, Tavira and White),
one attending flight school (ENS Gomes)
and the other as a Nurse (ENS Thomas).
We would also like to take this opportunity
to acknowledge ENS Hensley who placed
first and ENS White who placed fifth in the
National Order of Merit. ENS White, soon to
serve as a Surface Warfare Officer IP, is
also the 2015 fall recipient of the President’s
Second Mile Award. This award recognizes
remarkable leadership on campus, in the
Savannah community and beyond. We are
extremely proud of our graduates and look
forward to hearing of their future success.
