Call to Order/ Welcome

a. Reading of Minutes
i. Minutes were sent out to all students (mass email) via Ms.
Bradley
ii. Minutes were approved at 8:13 p.m.
New Business
a. Minutes will no longer be read, only approved from prior readings
by each senator
b. SOAR Committee Approval
i. Dewayne Gillard (Staff), Shamir Yates (Staff), Alfonzo Berry
(Alternate)
ii. Dewayne Gillard (Staff) - Approved
iii. Shamir Yates (Staff) - Approved
iv. Alfonzo Berry (Alternate) – Approved
v. SOAR committee was approved at 8:15 p.m.
c. SOAR Committee will prepare a list guidelines (ideal procedures) of
what is expected when applying for SOAR Funding
i. Application is available online on Savannah State University
website, or can individuals may speak with Ms. King, Activities
Coordinator located upstairs in the Student Union
ii. Information will be sent out November 5, 2014 prior to this
senate meeting.
Open Floor/Questions
a. Why are there not updates from Executive, Coalition, and Judicial
branches?

i. All updates mentioned in last meeting will be given to
students at the forum on October 17, 2014.
Announcements/ Upcoming Events
a. Proposal and Excuse Form has been updated to the SGA website.
b. Achievers of Today and Tomorrow will like for all organizations on
campus to collaborate with them in their Dress for Success Event.
c. Ja’Vaughn Sanders and Joe Davis will hold a “New Nutrition”
program that emphasis healthier diet on campus.
d. 3 Colleges 1 Cause will be held on November 20, 2014 at Forsyth
Park from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. This event helps raise scholarships for
students. Organizations are able to set up tables for this event as
well.
e. Rock N’ Roll sign-up sheet is online on the Savannah State Website. It
will be held on November 8, 2014.
f. Royal Court week is October 20-25
g. Vote for the Savannah State University band to participate in the
Honda Battle of the Bands. You can vote online at
www.hondabattleofthebands.com
h. Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship will be holding weekly clubs in the
COBA building Tuesdays at 5 p.m.
i. Kappa Alpha Psi and ECHOS Inc. will be holding a Domestic Violence
event on October 22 or 29, 2014.
j. Kappa Alpha Psi will be collaborating with SSE? And will be holding
an event entitled S.W.A.G. which will be on October 16, 2014
k. Commissioned to Love Campus Ministry will be holding an event
entitled Lights Out on October 17, 2014 at 7 p.m.
