Reference Librarian for Deaf Studies

Joan Naturale is the NTID Reference Librarian at the RIT Wallace Center and
is a liaison with the National Technical Institute for the Deaf
Joan has applied her two master’s degrees (Deaf education and library
science) in the creation of numerous guides and websites to facilitate
access to NTID/RIT collections. She has developed multiple collections
related to Deaf people in a variety of platforms. Joan regularly teaches
classes and workshops to academics, students, and the general public on
how to use today’s technology to obtain and share information. Joan played a significant role in
the creation of NTID’s Deaf Studies Archives. She has been an active participant in film festivals
and art shows, and has developed online guides to help others appreciate Deaf Studies
interdisciplinary resources.
