LTC Daniel M. Allen

LTC Allen enlisted in the Army in April of 1989 and graduated
from the Avionics, Navigation, and Flight Systems Course. He
subsequently received an Army Green to Gold scholarship and
earned his commission as an Armor second lieutenant, in 1994,
upon graduating from the University of Arizona with a Political
Science Bachelor of Arts degree. He is a graduate of the Armor
Officer Basic Course, the Scout Platoon Leader Course, the
Military Intelligence Transition Course, the Military Intelligence
Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff
School, the Command and General Staff College, and the School of
Advanced Military Studies. He holds two Masters Degrees, one in
Business Management and one in Strategic Intelligence.
Upon his commission, LTC Allen was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment where he
served as an Anti-tank Platoon Leader. In 1995, he deployed to Haiti as a Scout Platoon Leader in support of
Operation Uphold Democracy. Additionally, LTC Allen served as 2nd Squadron’s Support Platoon Leader, G
Troop Executive Officer, and as the Squadron Adjutant when the Squadron deployed to Bosnia in 1997
supporting Operations Joint Guard/Forge.
In September 1998, LTC Allen was branched as a Military Intelligence Officer and, after his transition, PCS’d
to the 314th Military Intelligence Battalion, in San Antonio, Texas where he served as the senior watch officer
for the Medina Regional Security Operation Center, commanded A Company, and deployed to the Joint
Analysis Center (JAC) in RAF Molesworth, England. While at the JAC, he served as the senior analyst in the
Balkans Intelligence Support Element ground team and deployed to Pristina, Kosovo, supporting the U.S.
National Intelligence Cell during Operation Joint Guardian.
In May 2002, LTC Allen PCS’d to Fort Irwin and served as an Observer Controller on the Field Artillery team
and as the Chief of Intelligence for the Operation Group. LTC Allen deployed in 2005 serving as a MultiNational Forces Iraq Intelligence Planner in Baghdad, Iraq. In 2008, he joined the 4th Infantry Division in
Baghdad, Iraq and served as the Division Intelligence Planner. Upon redeployment, LTC Allen served as the
Deputy G2 and again deployed to Iraq, in that capacity and as the Division’s Director of Intelligence in 20102011.
In 2012, LTC Allen moved to Fort Hood, Texas, where he assumed duties as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G2
of the 1st Cavalry Division. He maintained that position through February, 2014 when he deployed to
Regional Command South, Afghanistan serving as the CJ2 for CJTF-4 and CJTF-1 through July, 2014
Upon returning from Afghanistan, LTC Allen moved to Fort Irwin where he served as the Senior Intelligence
Officer and Observer Coach Trainer for Operations Group and the National Training Center..
LTC Allen’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense
Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army
Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army
Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He has also earned the Air Crewman Badge and the Combat
Action Badge. LTC Allen is married to the former Jessica Soares of Swansea, Massachusetts.
