• 2B Ryan Seiz hit his 11th home run of the season in the eighth inning to give Liberty a 4-2
lead in a win over UNC Asheville, 4/26. He leads the Big South with 11 home runs.
• Seiz also leads the Big South in runs scored, slugging percentage and total bases. He is
fourth in batting average and second in on base percentage. The second baseman is tied for
third in the conference with teammate Alex Close with 38 RBIs.
• 1B Alex Close hit his sixth home run of the season and singled home the winning run in
Liberty’s walkoff win over UNC Asheville, 4/27. He ranks sixth in home runs and seventh in
the slugging percentage in the Big South.
• Close leads the Flames with a .400 batting average with runners in scoring position.
• C Danny Grauer hit his seventh home run of the season and drove in another run with a
double in Liberty’s win at Clemson, 4/22.
• Grauer is tied for fourth in home runs among Big South hitters. He is seventh in RBIs and is
sixth in slugging percentage in the conference.
• SS Dalton Britt had a career-high 14-game hit streak from 4/4-4/26. The streak is the longest by a Liberty player this season.
• Britt has had at least one hit in 38 of Liberty’s 45 games this season.
• OF Nick Lacik is third in the Big South Conference with 26 walks. The Liberty leadoff hitter
has a .379 on base percentage.
• RHP Trey Lambert was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Lambert leads the Big South Conference in wins and enters the week with a 9-1 record. His
win total ranks ninth nationally.
• Lambert ranks sixth in ERA (2.27) and seventh in innings pitched (79.1) in the conference.
• RHP Ashton Perritt recorded his career-high 11th save of the season in win over UNC
Asheville, 4/26. Perritt’s save total is the second most in a season by a Liberty pitcher in
program history.
• Perritt is on the midseason watch list for NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award.
• Perritt also has started all 45 games in center field for the Flames this season. He is one of
three Flames (Britt and Seiz) who have started every game this season.
• LHP Shawn Clowers ran his record to 7-0 on the season with three wins over five games,
4/22-4/27. He recorded the victory at Clemson on 4/22 and picked-up back-to-back victories
against UNC Asheville, 4/26 and 4/27. The LHP is tied for second in the Big South in wins.
• Clowers has made a career-high 15 appearances, allowing two runs over 35 1/3 innings in
this season.
• RHP Parker Bean is tied for seventh in the Big South Conference in wins with a 6-1 record.
He leads the Flames and is sixth in the conference with 64 strikeouts.
• Bean was named the Big South Pitcher of the Week and earned Louisville Slugger National
Player of the Week honors for 3/31-4/6, after coming within two outs of a no-hitter in win over
VMI, 4/6. The RHP struck out a career-high 16 batters over 81/3 scoreless innings.

• Defending champion Liberty has been tabbed to finish
on top in the Big South Conference’s North Division
standings by the conference’s head coaches in the
league’s annual preseason poll.
• Coastal Carolina was chosen to finish the year as the
South Division’s top team.
• This season will be the second year of divisional play for
Big South teams. The 12-team conference will be split
into two six-team divisions with each team playing 27 Big
South games each.
• This season, the Big South Baseball Championship
will be played at the Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, S.C.,
May 20-24. The conference champion will receive the
league’s automatic bid to a NCAA Regional.

(.608) record against the Big South Conference’s current membership since 1976. Liberty has captured four Big South baseball titles, including the 2013 crown.

Pitching Making Mark
• Liberty enters the week with the fifth-best winning percentage in the nation (35-10,
.778). One of the key elements of head coach Jim Toman’s team’s success has been
its mound corps, this season.
• The Flames enter the week with a Big South-leading 2.37 ERA. Liberty is also ranks
11th nationally in the category.
• Liberty pitching also ranks 10th nationally with eight shutouts. The Flames recorded
six consecutive shutouts in Big South contests from March 28 - April 6. Liberty did not
allow a run in a sweep of a three-game series at Presbyterian College, March 28-30,
and during a three-game sweep of a series against VMI at Liberty Baseball Stadium,
April 4-6.
• Liberty pitching has posted a 2.37 ERA and held opponents to .221 batting average in
2014.
• The Flames have held opponents to 3.0 runs per game this season, the 10th fewest in
the nation.
• Over their last 30 games, the Flames have a 1.90 ERA and held opponents to a .208
batting average. Liberty is allowing 2.3 runs per game during the span.
Perritt Named to Midseason NCBWA Stopper Watch List
• Liberty reliever Ashton Perritt is one of 50 relief pitchers named to the midseason
watch list for the 10th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
(NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award. The honor is annually given to the top relief
pitcher in NCAA Division I.
• Perritt, who also starts in the outfield for the Flames, has posted a 1-1 record with a
1.50 ERA and 11 saves in a team-high 16 appearances this season. The junior righthander has struck out 24 and walked three in 24 innings.
• Perritt’s 11 saves are a career-high for the right-hander and are the second most in a
season in school history behind 16 by Josh Brey in 2000.
• He enters the weekend with 21 career saves, ranking second on the all-time program
list behind Brey, who posted 27 from 1999-2001.

Lambert Named to National Pitcher of the Year Watch List
• Senior right-hander Trey Lambert has been selected as one of 47 pitchers listed on the first watch list for the 2014 National Pitcher
of the Year Award.
• The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s annual Night of Champions on June 28 in Lubbock, Texas.
• Lambert enters the week with a 9-1 record with a 2.27 ERA over 79 1/3 innings. The senior leads the Big South Conference and is
second in the nation in wins. He has struck out 53 and walked 14 in 11 starts this season.
• The right-hander Lambert also has pitched three complete games, two of which were shutouts, and has held opponents to a .221
batting average.
• After pitching a one-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at Presbyterian College on March 28, Lambert was named Big South Conference
Pitcher of the Week for March 31. He also received several national honors, as he was selected an NCAA.com Top Performer for
Week 7 and an ECAC Player of the Week.
Close, Lambert Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Team
• Liberty Flames pitcher Trey Lambert and first baseman Alex Close have been selected to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division
I All-District 3 baseball team for their excellence in the classroom and on the baseball diamond.
• Lambert, a senior, leads the Big South Conference in wins with a 9-1 record in 2014. A member of the National Pitcher of the
Year watch list, the right-hander has posted a team-leading 2.27 ERA over 79 1/3 innings, striking out 53 and walking 14. The team
captain has pitched three complete games and two shutouts in 2014. The Tazewell, Va., native has been named Big South Pitcher of
the Week (March 24-30), a ECAC Player of the Week (March 24-30) and a NCAA.com Performer of the Week (Week 7) this season.
• Off the field, Lambert is slated to graduate in May with an undergraduate degree in health promotion and is currently maintaining
a 3.94 cumulative GPA. A two-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, the pitcher was recently named the recipient of the
2014 Rock Royer/Mac Rivera Award, honoring the top graduating senior student-athlete at Liberty University who best exemplifies
the standards and lives of both of these great Christian men. In addition, he is active in various community projects.
• Close, a junior, has hit .327 with 47 runs scored and 38 RBIs in 44 games this season. The team captain has belted six home runs
and posted a .503 slugging percentage. The Hoover, Ala., native and team captain has collected 13 multiple-hit game and leads the
Flames with a .400 batting average in 2014.
• Academically, Close has maintained a 3.84 cumulative GPA, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration:
finance. A member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, the first baseman serves a representative on Liberty’s Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee and is involved in several community outreach programs.
• Both Lambert and Close recently helped Liberty’s baseball program win the athletics department’s Darius Dixon Service award,
given to the individual or team who unselfishly gives of their time to make a difference in the greater Lynchburg community.
Recognizing the Seniors
• On Saturday, Liberty baseball will recognize the five seniors on its roster who will play in their last regular season home games in
a Liberty uniform at Liberty Baseball Stadium over the next six days. The Flames close out their home schedule on May 13 against
Elon.
• Pitchers Brett Fulghum, Trey Lambert and Matt Marsh, along with catcher Danny Grauer and outfielder Nick Lacik will be honored
for their contributions to Liberty baseball during their time with program.
• In addition, managers Matt Bonferraro and Dan Forbes will be recognized for their efforts.
Toman Notches 250
• Liberty head coach Jim Toman recorded career win 250 with Liberty’s 10-4 victory at Longwood on April 11.
• In seven years, Toman has compiled a 258-147-1 career record with a .637 winning percentage.
• Toman has recorded the best winning NCAA Division I winning percentage and best Big South Conference mark of any coach in
school history.
• Toman is one of only two Liberty coaches to win over 200 games in program history. He joins program founder Al Worthington, who
posted 343 victories during 13 seasons as the Flames head coach.
